Stained Glass Triptych

In the spring of 2013, I was commissioned to create a set of stained glass windows for a residential client in Pittsburgh, PA. For many years my client mused about hiring me to create something for his home, and finally one day he approached me with a simple creative request to, “create something awesome.” This provision of creative freedom, coupled with an open-ended budget, required that I create something truly special. I found inspiration in the craftsmanship of his home's American Victorian woodwork (built 1926) and in his Expressionist style artistic decor that he collected from local artists. I settled on blending the two distinctly different aesthetics which resulted in an Arts & Craft's style design with a surrealist-era twist.

The process begins with several rounds of hand-drawn sketches before a full color vector graphic is created.
