Inspiration & optimism from a tireless public servant

Hand-Lettered Type

There was something fortuitous about the anticipation of the birth of a friends’ first child and the potential inauguration of our first woman president in January 2017. The notion that this baby girl would join an American society that recognized equality at the highest level possible was so exciting. Although our optimism was not rewarded, we found inspiration in HRC’s concession speech (excerpted below) and felt that it was appropriate to commemorate the sentiment with a piece of hand-lettered and illustrated design for a friends’ child.

“And to all the women, and especially the young women, who put their faith in this campaign and in me, I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion. Now, I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but some day someone will and hopefully sooner than we might think right now. And to all the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.”
